1) | Climate Impact and Certification in Agriculture: Navigating Change and Future Possibilities Businesses are addressing climate impact in their value chains, focusing on changes and compensations. Key questions include the effectiveness of current certifications, their future development, and who will lead it. Can organic certification showcase added value and be merged with climate certification for greater impact? Moderation: Dr. Isaac Adodoadji, President, Ecoland Organic Ghana; Thomas Wehinger, Bio-Kontroll Institut; Dr. Reginald Tang Guuroh, Scientist CSIR-Forestry Research Institute of Ghana and Lecturer at the CSIR-College of Science and Technology Language: English |
2) | Leading Organic Alliance Network on the Future of Organic Agriculture Please note that this workshop is a working meeting of the Leading Organic Alliance. Moderation: Steffen Reese, CEO, Naturland e.V.; Former Leading Organic Alliance Conveners Language: English |
3) | The Economics of Cooperation An increase in the commoditization of organic produce has led to price wars. When organic produce becomes more standardized and widely available, it can lose some of its unique selling points and differentiation, leading to increased competition primarily based on price. To mitigate these effects, there needs to be innovative farming practices and shorter supply chains. Can Associative Economics models with their win-win approach be a solution to the complete commoditization of organic produce? Moderation: Sundeep Kamath, Convenor of the Biodynamic Silk Road, Former Board Member of IFOAM Asia and Secretary of the Biodynamic Association of India Language: English |
4) | What are the differences and commonalities among Organic, Agroecology, Regenerative, and other Farming Concepts globally? In recent decades, numerous alternative approaches to industrial agriculture have been developed and discussed. Sustainable land management systems such as organic farming and regenerative agriculture are based on an agricultural systems approach that takes the principles of agroecology into account holistically and contributes to the global UN Sustainable Development Goals. The differences and similarities between organic, agroecology, regenerative agriculture and many other agricultural concepts have been the subject of much debate in recent years, while at the same time the individual approaches seem to get lost in the diversity of the emerging concepts. In this workshop, the similarities and differences will be examined in depth and possibilities discussed on the way to a transformation of agricultural and food systems. Moderation: Prof. Dr. Bernhard Freyer, University of Continuous Education, Austria Language: English/German |
5) | Collaboration without Compromise: Applying living systems thinking to reconcile competition between diverse farming approaches How can the good food movement be wildly successful? How can we collectively work to evolve the food system without compromising each unique entity’s values and offerings? Why do attempts to change the food system often fail to meet their goals? Many of us are experiencing a gap between what we want to achieve and create, and the actual positive impact of our actions on the whole food system. Is there a way to upgrade the role we play in our co-evolution with the food system, and can we uplevel the value we bring to our stakeholders (e.g. farmers) by looking at a different order of work and effectiveness, through applied living systems thinking? Moderation: Lauren Tucker, reNourish Studio, USA; Nora Taleb, reNourish Studio, USA Language: English |
